World Cup 2025 – Matches of March 24th
Yesterday was a big day at the 2025 FIFA World Cup. We had the chance to see all teams of the Groups A and B on the field. The Netherlands beat Chile 2-0, ensuring its top spot in its group, while Spain managed to overcome Australia 3-0, sweetening the bitterness of their previous two losses. Brazil has pocketed its second victory against Cameroon, with a confident 4-1, while Croatia was overtaken by Mexico 3-1. Brazil has the top spot in its group, but only by goal difference – Mexico has the same amount of points.
Today will see the decisive matches of Groups C and D. The same as yesterday, today we will have the chance to follow four matches. Italy will face Uruguay at 13:00, at the same time when England will have the chance to redeem some of its pride against Costa Rica. At 16:00 we will have the chance to see Japan fight Colombia, and Greece take on Ivory Coast.
The standings of these groups are quite clear at this point.
In Group C Colombia holds the top spot right now – it has won all of its previous matches, scored five goals (and received only one) and leads detached with six points. It’s followed by Ivory Coast with three points and three goals scored – so even if the African team wins its match against Greece, Colombia will probably keep its top spot because of the goal difference.
The situation is similar in Group D – Costa Rica leads detached, with six points, four goals scored and one received in its first two matches, followed by Italy with three points, one win, one lost match, and two goals scored and two received. Uruguay follows close with a worse goal difference but the same amount of points, so even if the top spot of the group seems to be already decided, the fate of the second place is still in play. The fourth team of the group, England – very confident at first, but with a poor performance and no matches won – has no chance to qualify to the Round of 16.
Same as today, the teams will play their final group matches in parallel.
At 13:00 local time Italy will face Uruguay at the Estadio das Dunas in Natal, while Costa Rica will play against England at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.
At 17:00 local time Japan will face Colombia at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, while the match between Greece and Ivory Coast will start at the same time at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza.

One way or another, the fate of the teams in groups C and D will be decided today.
